Il progetto si basa sulla tecnologia Wireless (Wi-Fi, alla lettera senza fili) ed Hiperlan: un sistema che utilizza pacchetti di onde radio a bassissimo impatto ambientale ed energetico (es. emissioni circa mille volte meno che un normale telefono cellulare) per portare nelle case o nelle aziende la connettività a Banda Larga ad Internet, senza l'obbligo di un allacciamento telefonico, e qualunque altra forma di abbonamento esterno a quello offerto da Lunigiana In Rete.Per usufruire del servizio, in dettaglio, bastano solo il proprio computer, una scheda di rete, e l'apparato radio (compreso di antenna) fornito da Lunigiana In Rete.Il progetto prevede lo sviluppo di un’infrastruttura di telecomunicazione a banda larga veicolata lungo le dorsali in modalità HIPERLAN2 ed irradiata sul territorio in modalità wireless, per portare la connessione Internet nelle zone non coperte dalla ADSL.
Il fine è quello di creare una rete, che si svilupperà per fornire dei servizi (Internet veloce, videosorveglianza)
